Rechargeable Marble Table Lamp with Fabric Shade

The Viego Co. Rechargeable Marble Table Lamp sets a cylindrical natural marble base under a fabric shade, and runs without a cable. The marble is the point: it is quarried rather than moulded, so the veining through your base belongs to the block it was cut from and no two lamps are the same across a room.

Eight stones are offered, which is unusual at this size and turns one lamp into a real choice rather than a colourway. Arabescato and Calacatta Viola are white grounds with grey and violet veining. Rosso Levanto is deep oxblood, Royal Rose softer and pinker, Emperador Light a warm brown, Green Marble a deep forest, and Travertine the pale, open, pitted stone. A second Calacatta Viola cut is offered because the veining differs enough between blocks to be worth choosing.

Above the base sits a fabric shade, which diffuses far more softly than glass or acrylic and is why the light lands as a warm wash rather than a bright edge. It runs on a rechargeable battery at 5 V with the bulb and battery both included, draws 6 to 10 W, and is not dimmable. Because nothing plugs into a wall, it will sit on a mantel, a shelf, a dinner table or a bedside nowhere near a socket. Wipe the marble with a dry soft cloth and brush the shade; marble is porous, so clear spills quickly.
