Description
The Viego Co. Solar Lantern is an outdoor light in a traditional lantern shape that charges itself during the day and lights a gate, wall or fence post after dark. Because it carries its own panel and battery there is no cable to run and no supply to connect, so it can go on a post at the end of a drive as easily as beside a door.
The body is ABS with a lantern-style diffuser and a lithium cell charged by the panel on top. A light sensor switches it on at dusk and off again at dawn without any timer to set. The supplied remote steps between warm, neutral and white light, or a slow RGB fade for an evening. It carries an IP65 rating, which covers rain and frost but not submersion. Choose the wall bracket or the post-top fitting when ordering.
It screws to a wall or drops onto a post top, and needs nothing beyond a screwdriver. Daylight on the panel is what governs run time, so mount it where the top is not shaded by a tree or a gutter. Wipe the panel clean occasionally or charging falls off. Expect shorter run times through midwinter, when there is less daylight to charge on.
