Travertine and Marble Taper Candle Holder

The Viego Co. Travertine and Marble Taper Candle Holder is a solid block of stone, 12 cm long by 3 cm wide and 8 cm tall, cut with two slots so it carries a pair of taper candles rather than one. That is what makes it work as a centrepiece on its own: two flames from one object, no cluster of holders to arrange.

Four stones are offered, and they split into two pairs. Cream travertine comes honed, with the cut faces smoothed and the pitting left visible, or raw cut, where one face is broken open and the stone's holes and pockets are the surface you see. Burgundy marble does the same: honed, with white veining running clean across a polished oxblood ground, or raw cut, where the broken face shows grey and white seams through the red. Every block is quarried stone, so the veining and pitting are particular to the piece you receive.

Four anti-slip pads underneath keep it planted on a polished table rather than sliding when a candle is pushed in. It takes standard taper candles, not included, so colour and height are yours to pick. Wipe with a dry soft cloth; travertine and marble are both porous, so lift spilled wax once cool rather than letting it soak in, and trim wicks before each burn. Never leave a burning candle unattended, keep it away from curtains and anything else that can catch, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
