Care Instructions

Wipe the top panel clear a few times a year. Post caps sit face up, so they collect pollen, dust and leaf litter faster than most solar lights, and that is usually why a run starts to look uneven. Runtime shortens in midwinter.

Finding the step in the dark

A deck becomes genuinely useful after dark when nobody has to feel for the edge with a foot. Lit posts draw the perimeter and mark the change in level, and they do it without a floodlight in anyone's eyes.

About this piece

A deck at night is usually either floodlit or invisible, and neither is what anyone wants.

Capping the posts turns the structure itself into the lighting: a low glow at every post picks out the edge of the deck, the line of the fence and the top of the steps, so the space reads as usable and safe without anyone being dazzled mid-conversation.

These are sized specifically for 4 inch wood or vinyl posts, which is the standard for most decking and fencing, so they sit flush on the post top rather than perching awkwardly on it. The base nails on and the light screws into place, with no wiring, no transformer and no trench to dig across a lawn.

Light the edges, not the middle

A glow at every post draws the perimeter and the step, which is what a deck needs at night.

Made to fit, not to perch

Cut for standard 4 x 4 inch wood or vinyl posts, so the cap sits flush on the post top.

Warm for atmosphere, cool for walking

Three colour settings at 50% or 100% brightness give six combinations, set per light.

An afternoon, not a project

The base nails on and the light screws to it, with no wiring, transformer or trench.

After: lit posts draw the deck perimeter and mark the step down

Why post caps beat spike lights on a deck

A deck has nowhere to push a spike light in, and stick-on strips fail where boards flex and get walked on. The posts are already there, already at the right height and already spaced evenly - capping them is the one solution that uses the structure you have rather than fighting it.

Two settings, two jobs

Run them warm at 50% along a fence line and they are atmosphere. Run them cool at 100% at the top of the steps and they are safety lighting. Being able to set each light separately means one product does both across a single garden.

Two settings side by side: warm white on one post, cool white on the next

In the room

Three places along the structure.

Three placements, and what changes in each.

Deck, perimeter posts

01 / 03

The structure becomes the lighting

Capping every post draws the edge of the deck with a low glow instead of flooding it. There is nowhere on a deck to push in a spike light, and the posts are already there, evenly spaced at the right height.

Steps, top of the run

02 / 03

Marking the change in level

Cool white at 100% at the top of the steps reads as safety lighting, so nobody feels for the edge with a foot. Each cap is set on its own across three colour settings and two brightness levels.

Fence, along the rail

Fence, along the rail

03 / 03

Warm at half brightness for atmosphere

Warm white at 50% along a fence line is atmosphere rather than function. The base nails to the post top and the light screws onto it, with no wiring or transformer, so a full run is an afternoon of work.
