Rechargeable Touch Table Lamp

The Viego Co. Rechargeable Touch Table Lamp is a plain acrylic dome on an alloy base, made to give a soft cordless glow at a bedside, on a desk or down the middle of a dinner table. The dome is unfaceted and undecorated, so the light comes out even and the lamp stays quiet next to whatever else is on the table.

The base is the switch: a touch turns it on and dims it steplessly through warm, natural and white light, with nothing to press or rotate. A 2000 mAh battery runs it for six to eight hours and charges over USB at 5 V in three to four hours. The LED draws 3 W and is integrated, so no bulb is ever replaced. Because the whole control surface is the base, there is nothing on the body to catch the eye when it is off.

With no cable in use it moves between rooms freely, which makes it useful for a dinner table one evening and a nightstand the next. It charges from any phone charger, so nothing special travels with it, and a full charge covers an evening and most of a night. Wipe it with a dry soft cloth and keep the charging port clear.
