Retro Industrial Iron Wall Light

The Viego Co. Industrial Iron Wall Light is a hardwired sconce built as an open black cage with no shade, so the bulb itself is the visible element. Light passes through the frame in both directions and casts a pattern of bars on the wall behind it, which is the point of the design rather than a side effect.

The body is painted iron, 10 cm wide and 45 cm tall, with a standard E27 lamp holder at its centre. Because the socket is a common size the look can be changed entirely by changing the bulb, from a clear filament Edison to a frosted globe. It accepts AC 110 to 260 V and is not dimmable at the fixture, though a dimmable bulb on a dimmer circuit will work. Choose it bare, or with one Edison filament bulb supplied. The cage is open at both ends, so heat from a filament bulb escapes rather than building up inside a shade.

It mounts to a standard wall box and suits a staircase, a landing, a hallway, a loft conversion or a restaurant wall where an exposed filament reads as deliberate. Two or three spaced along a corridor is the usual arrangement. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
