Solar Up and Down Wall Lights

The Viego Co. Solar Up and Down Wall Lights throw a warm fan of light both upward and downward, so a fence panel, a wall or a gatepost is lit in two directions from a single unit. Twelve LEDs sit behind each face, which is what gives the wide spread rather than a narrow spot.

The housing is ABS and polycarbonate with a 2 V 150 mA polycrystalline solar panel on top and a rechargeable cell inside. A switch underneath turns the unit on before first use, after which a sensor handles dusk and dawn without intervention. The rating is IP65, so rain and frost are fine but submersion is not. Each light works independently, with no wiring between units and no transformer anywhere in the run.

They screw to any wall, fence or post, with nothing to connect and no cable to bury. That suits a garden boundary, a driveway wall, a deck or a path. Position them where the panel gets direct daylight, since shade is what shortens run time more than anything else, and clean the panels occasionally. They come in packs of two or four, which lets a fence line be spaced evenly rather than lit in one place.
