Pleated Shade Ceramic Table Lamp

A pleated shade on a glazed ceramic base, made for the corner of a nightstand or the end of a shelf rather than the middle of a ceiling. The pleats are the point: light passing through a folded shade breaks up and spreads instead of arriving in one flat block, which is what keeps a small lamp from feeling like a work light. The ceramic base carries the weight low down, so the lamp stays put when the cord is knocked, and it wipes clean.

There are five colours and two shade shapes. White and cream sit back and disappear into a room. Pink, dark green and wine red are there to be noticed. Shade A is the rounder of the two and reads softer; Shade B is taller and a little more formal. Shade B ships with its cover flat rather than fitted, so you clip the cover onto the iron frame yourself, spacing the pleats evenly as you go. It takes about a minute and the diagram is in the box.

The fitting is a standard E27, and the bulb is not included. That is deliberate: you pick the warmth and brightness you want rather than living with whatever came in the carton. The lamp is rated to 5W with a simple inline switch on the cord, so there is no app, no remote and nothing to pair. If you want dimming, fit a dimmable E27 and pair it with a compatible dimmer on the circuit.
